Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party has kept to his words of visiting Egypt to understudy some of the country’s infrastructure renaissance in view to replicating same in Nigeria when he becomes the next president.
This was against insinuations in some quarters that the Presidential candidate was not going to study Egypt’s infrastructure but to attend a bank shareholders meeting in Cairo which would be held from 15th to 18th of June.
Photos of Obi interacting with engineers of the New Capital Power Plant in Cairo, Egypt has got Nigerians reacting after they were shared on Twitter.
Peter Obi had announced few days ago that he was going on a three-day trip to Egypt to gain knowledge of their electricity, education, and economic structure. In the photos, Obi could be seen with some officials at the power plant, interacting with them.
The photos were shared by a Twitter user who uploaded them with a caption that reads;
“Mr. Peter Obi the most talked about Presidential candidate on earth…Interacting with the top Executives and Engineers of the New Capital Power Plant in New Cairo, Egypt. The plant currently generates 4800 megawatts of electricity !!!”
The user also shared a video in which Peter Obi could be seen questioning the officials at the power plant.
The electricity sector in Nigeria generates, transmits and distributes megawatts(MW) of electric power that is significantly less than what is needed to meet basic household and industrial needs
