Catholic Church of Transfiguration Victoria Garden City celebrates Fathers’ Day, elects new executive for Catholic Men Organization

The Catholic Church of Transfiguration VGC on Sunday 19th June, 2022 joined Christians the world over in celebrating Fathers’ Day.

The event, like those of other years, was celebrated during the various masses in the church while thanksgiving for the occasion by the Catholic Men Organization (CMO) was marked with handing out of souvenirs to all the fathers present at 9am mass led by the Parish priest, Rev fr. Kingsley Edaewor.

The celebration of the Fathers’ Day which coincided with the monthly meeting of the CMO, further collided with the Annual General Meeting of the organization.

The highpoint of the Annual General Meeting was the dissolution of the 2018/2022 executives under the leadership of Bro. Jude Ukachukwu, CEO of TIG-group.

In his valedictory speech, Bro Jude who many admire for his openness, gentleness, inclusiveness, accessibility and jovial nature, thanked members of the organization and especially the outgoing executives for what he described as tremendous support which he said enabled him and his executive members to accomplish so much and finished strong .

In a brief address at the AGM, the outgoing chairman declared the sum of 12 million naira in fixed deposit and 2.5 million naira in the organization’s current account as the current financial status of the organization.

During the elections, the outgoing Vice Chairman of the organization Abhulime Ehiagwina emerged concensus candidate and was returned unopposed and elected chairman with a total vote count of 66 votes.

Bro Val Izuchukwu in similar fashion also emerged the consensus candidate and was returned unopposed with a total vote count of 66 votes. He was therefore returned elected as the vice chairman.

Other members of the new executive who also emerged unopposed include

  • Bro. Anene Mgbodile as Secretary
  • Bob Anikpo as Asst. Secretary
  • Bro Ralph Udezeh as Financial Secretary
  • Bro Uyoyoh Inifadhe Treasurer
  • Public Relations Officer Lotachukwu Udeaja.

The office of welfare officer, however, was keenly contested between the outgoing Public Relations Officer Dr Kaycee Chuks and the outgoing assistant welfare officer Lawrence Dike. After the votes, Dr Kaycee Chuks emerged winner with total votes of 57 against 22 votes scored by Lawrence Duke.

Welfare Officer 2 was contested between Bro Chike Nwafor and Bro Anthony Izuwah. At the end, Bro Chike Nwafor emerged winner with total votes of 60 against 27 votes scored by Bro Anthony Izuwah.

For Provost, Bro Michael Uhuo was returned unopposed.
The electoral process was monitored by representatives from the Laity, Deanery among others.
