Gombe NLC Pleads For Implementation Of N30,000 Minimum Wage For LG Workers

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Gombe State, Yusuf Bello, on Monday, pleaded with the state government to implement the N30,000 minimum wage benefit to local government workers.

Gombe State had implemented the minimum wage for just state government workers due to paucity of funds.

Speaking during the commemoration of the 2023 May Day celebration at Pantami stadium where trade unions and allied bodies gathered, Bello acknowledged and appreciated the commitment and political will of the governor, Muhammadu Yahaya.

He said, “Since the minimum wage committee is a standing committee, we are appealing that the committee should reconvene with immediate effect to look imo the implementation of the minimum wage to local Government employees, the outstanding balance to some ministries in the state service and other issues associated with the implementation of the minimum wage across board in the state.”
